Participantsto the SAPALDIA study have been recruited from 8 different areas of Switzerlandwhich are representative of the various climatic conditions and level ofurbanization of the country. These areas are called “local centres” in theSAPALDIA project. Each of them is under the responsibility of a physicianspecialized in pulmonary medicine (chest diseases).

These local centres are:Aarau , Basel , Davos , Geneva ,Lugano , Montana ,Payerne and Wald .
